Uncatalogued is an offline-first fictional biology game with a personal Field Journal for photographs and observations. The game and journal do not require an account and do not include advertising, analytics, tracking, or app-managed cloud synchronization. This policy explains local game and journal data, camera and photo access, the optional AI assistant, and the public Support Form.
Information stored on your device
The app stores a local profile containing:
- onboarding completion and current mission progress;
- discovered specimens, best scores, and completed experiment history;
- sound and haptic preferences; and
- your AI consent choice: not asked, granted, or declined or revoked.
Uncatalogued stores this information locally and does not operate an account system or a remote database for game progress.
Field Journal, camera, and photographs
When you create a Field Journal entry, the app saves the discovery name, any observations you write, the imagined lineage you choose, the entry's creation date, and up to five photographs. The journal is personal: entries are not published or shared with other players.
If you choose Take Photo, the app requests camera access to photograph your discovery. Choose from Library opens the system photo picker so you can select photographs to attach. The app uses the photographs you select and does not scan your photo library. Photo access is optional: you can save a text-only entry and play the game without granting camera access.
Attached photographs are copied into the app's local storage so they remain available with the saved entry. The app may resize or compress these copies for display and storage. Uncatalogued does not upload journal entries or photographs to its servers, the Support Form, or the AI assistant, and it does not automatically identify real-world organisms from photographs.
Your operating system may include local app data in device backups according to your device settings. Uncatalogued does not provide its own journal cloud synchronization service.
Optional AI lab assistant
The complete game works without AI. If the assistant is available in your version, the app asks for consent before sending a request. If the assistant is unavailable, no AI request is sent.
After consent, a request may include the specimen identifier, codename, fictional designation, summary, biome, mission objective, completed experiments, verified observations, current in-game hypothesis selections, the selected assistant action, and an optional short question that you type. The app does not intentionally add your real name, account information, device identifier, location, contacts, photos, health information, or full local save to this request.
DeepSeek processes the submitted request and generated response. Internet services may also receive network and technical information, such as an IP address. Do not include personal, confidential, or sensitive information in a custom question. You can review DeepSeek's privacy information before using the assistant.
AI responses are optional interpretations inside a fictional game. They do not change scores, evidence, discoveries, unlocks, or canonical mission results.
Support requests
The public Support Form does not require an account or sign-in. When you submit it, the following information is stored for later review:
- the topic and message you provide;
- your name and contact method, only if you choose to provide them;
- the support page URL and referring page; and
- browser and device information provided through the browser's user-agent string.
Support requests are kept only as long as reasonably necessary to understand the request, maintain support records, and protect the service from abuse. Providing contact details does not guarantee a reply. The hosting and storage services may process basic network information needed to deliver the page and accept the request.
Information the app does not collect
Beyond the optional camera and photo access described above, the app does not request microphone, location, contacts, Health data, or tracking permissions. It does not use advertising identifiers, behavioral analytics, crash-reporting services, purchases, subscriptions, public profiles, chat, or public content sharing.
Your choices and deletion
- You can decline AI consent and continue using every offline game feature.
- You can revoke or grant AI consent later from Settings.
- You can edit or delete a Field Journal entry from its discovery screen. To remove an individual photograph, open Edit, remove the photo, and save the entry. These actions remove the corresponding saved photo copies from the app; original photographs in your library are kept.
- You can manage camera access and any photo permissions in your device Settings. Revoking access does not delete photographs already saved in your journal.
- You can reset game progress from Settings. A successful reset removes the local game profile and returns the game to its first-run state. Field Journal entries and their saved photographs are kept; delete them from the journal when you want to remove them.
- Removing the app through iOS also removes its locally stored app data according to iOS behavior.
- You may request deletion of a submitted support request through the Support Form. Include the request reference shown after submission and enough information to identify the request.
Resetting game progress or removing the app does not delete a support request you already submitted or information processed by the optional AI provider. Device backups are managed separately through your operating system or backup provider.
Security
Local information is protected by the security controls of your device and operating system. Support requests are not publicly readable through the Support Form. No method of electronic storage or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Age eligibility
The offline game is intended for players aged 13 or older. The optional AI assistant and Support Form are intended for adults. If you are under 18, use these online features only with a parent or legal guardian's involvement and only if you meet the minimum age required where you live. Anyone under 13 must not use the app or submit information through the Support Form.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the app's data practices or supporting services change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version.
